Mark & Carinas 1961 bagged belair needed our help…
Mark & Carina’s bagged 1961 Chevy Belair 2 door sedan hasn’t been the easiest of jobs with the car constantly fighting back, making it more of a one step forward to steps back kind of deal.
Mark brought the car into us after failing compliance on a number of things that needed LVVTA certification which we were more than happy to organise for him.
At the same time he wanted a few parts added which included these drop spindles which were meant to be “a direct fit” which we later found out were actually made for a 67 Impala forcing the need for new brakes and hubs. With these installed the 18×9.5″wheels which were previously on it did not clear anything so a set of 6″ reverse wire wheels were purchased.
With the fuel tank now being the lowest part of the car with the airbags deflated the mandrel bender was utilised and a bash bar was bolted in underneath for easy access and drag blocks to be added to at a later date.
With the new drop spindles in and the big brake kit, this should be the lowest 61 Belair 2 door sedan in the country with the front X-member hitting the ground at full drop.
Just some of the jobs we completed on this car were…
- new spindles and brake kit fitted
- tidied up the air bag system
- fitted speedo drive gear
- fixed the electrical issues
- fitted new steering wheel and rebuilt column
- fitted all new bushes on the entire car
- fixed carb leaking issue
- fitted all new seat belts front and back
- fitted new shock mounts that allow full travel
- bash bar fitted
- overall look at the car and replace anything worn
And as you can see there is still plenty of lift.
The cars almost certed now and Mark and Carina are hoping the next compliance re-check goes smoothly so they can cruise this thing in Summer.
